Amy Silva-Smith PhD, ANP, RN
About Dr. Silva-Smith
Dr. Silva-Smith is a nurse practitioner, nurse researcher, and the Carole Schoffstall Endowed Professor in the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She has been a faculty member at UCCS since 2004. Her nurse practitioner practice, which focused mainly on primary care for older adults, spanned 21 years and she has been a nurse for 36 years. As an educator, Dr. Silva-Smith teaches in the undergraduate nursing program on topics such as pathophysiology and aging. Dr. Silva-Smith’s research focuses on stroke prevention and development of interventions to promote sustained physical activity after stroke. She is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and was a Fulbright Research Scholar to the United Kingdom in 2022 where she studied the experience of exercise after a stroke.
